Conservation District: A local governmental subdivision
established under state law to carry out programs of
conservation, wise use and development of soil, water
and other natural resources.
Conservation Districts Are resource management agencies
coordinating and implementing natural resource and
environmental programs at the local level oftentimes in
cooperation with federal and state agencies.

What Does a Conservation District Do?
Districts work with private landowners, land managers, towns, villages and other local interests in addressing a broad spectrum of natural resource concerns; erosion control, flood prevention, stream repair, water conservation and use, wetlands, ground water, water quality and quantity, nonpoint source pollution, forestland protection, wildlife, recreation, waste water management and community development.
